10 Tips before you publish your first book

Answer Questions/Solve a Problem/Demystify the unknown;

When writing your book, keep in mind you want to solve a problem, answer questions and or demystify the unknown. This way your readers will feel they are reading a book of value.

Add your own experience to enforce points

Whenever possible, Include your own experiences, even trials and failures to reinforce points in your book. Readers like this because they know that you understand what it's like to do something for the first time.

Try to write at least 20,000 - 40,000 words

Don’t write any less than 20,000 words. Your Readers may feel "gipped" if it takes them too little time to read your book.

Add Value to your book/eBook as much as possible

Adding value to your book means giving your readers even more than they expected. Read the part about how to ad value to your book/eBook

Make your book into an eBook

EBooks are the entire new craze in reading now a days. Publishing the eBook version of your book, will increase your sales.

Put a picture of yourself or a person on your front cover

People like to see a face on the front cover of a book; it makes them feel like they can trust you as an Author more if it’s a picture of you. Or if it is a picture of a person it can make the book feel more personal.

Choose a book cover that is white yellow or red in background...

Choose a book cover that is white, yellow, red they sell more. I chose a green cover for my book "white Rastafari" that may be the reason it hasn’t really been moving. I chose a white cover for "how to date a Jamaican man" and that book one sells! Yellow will stand out among the other books, and red is a color that stimulates people to take action (buy).

"How to" Books sell well

People like titles that begin with "How to." A book title that begins with How to tells your potential buyers indicates to buyers that they will gain knowledge or a skill that they did not have before.

Demystifying the unknown, it pays!!!

When I wrote my book, "How to Date a Jamaican man," I knew there were women dating Jamaican men who knew nothing of Jamaican Culture. I knew it was my job to demystify the unknown. That book sells! Many women who live in the United States buy this book to learn about Jamaican men and their culture.

Build trust with your Readers

When I wrote my book "How to Become a Rasta," I included examples from my own life, to back up points in my book. This gives the book/eBook a human element, and helps the reader build confidence and trust in your knowledge as the Author because it shows you have experience on your book topic.

Blog Page...Blog Pose...Whats the difference?

Blog post Instant updates, fresh information, post offers categories, organized information, search engines love blogs. Blog pages Blog pages create a steady stream of search engine traffic. Like websites, blog pages offer permanent information on your blog.

Linking blog posts for traffic

Be sure to put at least 5 or more links from your blog on each new blog post you create. Do this by going into at least 5 different blog posts that have words related. Then highlight the keyword or keyword phrase and link it to the new blog post. The search engines like this.
example; On my blog www.jamaicanloveblog.wordpress.com I just created a blog post called, “What foods do Jamaican people eat?” Once the post was published, I went into my list of published blog posts, and searched for related posts. I then went through each post searching for words that might be related to my new blog post, entitled “What foods do Jamaican People eat?” Here is a list of keywords and keyword phrases I found on 5 different blog posts.
Jamaican Food Caribbean Jamaican people eat Chicken I highlighted each keyword and keyword phrase and linked them to my new page to give it weight in the search engines.

For added weight in the search engines point 5 more links from an entirely different blog, but related to the same post. This is why it also helps to set up one blog on wordpress.com and another on wordpress.org that is related but entirely different. On the flip side try not to have more than 5 links on each page or post, pointing out. This can create confusion for readers, and make your pages and posts look messy.

What on a blog should be a 'blog page?'

A page to promote your book/eBook - 1000 words A Page to promote a product - 1000 words Your “About me page - 1000 words An article by you or another Author that helps to promote your products / services. A page that answers some questions you know your visitors may be looking for. Create a healthy static front page that links to key areas on your blog, and links to key monetized areas on your blog.

When do I make a blog post?

Write a blog post at all times! Never stop blogging. It is more profitable for your blog to be more like a blog and less like a website. Blog posts clearly show visitors the abundance of information available in the categories. The more you blog and build your blog categories, the more traffic you will get because your category page will feature all of your blog posts which will draw traffic from the search engines, and give site visitors an organized list of options. Pick no more than 5 blog categories for your entire blog and place all blog posts in one of these, every time you blog. PLEASE, think about what your blog categories should be before you blog anything at all. Try to name them as one word instead of two.

Tips about using blog categories

Your categories should center on your strengths. Don’t use any more than 5 categories. This way if you get up to 7 that should be your maximum.

Tips about using Tags

Try not to create new blog tags, in other words the less blog tags you use, and the more you use them, the more points you will score from your search engines. This is so that when someone clicks on one of your blog tags they will get access to a whole slew of information, rather than your tag being linked to just one or two blogs. www. jamaicanloveblog.wordpress.com My www.jamaicanloveblog.wordpress.com blog is my newest blog. Jamaica Culture Jamaica Men & Women Jamaica Recipes Jamaica Travel Rastafari Uncategorized I will add 2 more in the future, but I will not rush with wordpress.com.

Blog for money - tips for building Posts

7 points to write a blog post that pays

Compelling Title A keyword link to money page in the first line Call to Action to buy at the Bottom of page Content (text) of 1000 Words or more Inspiring Photos Informational and inspirational Includes the video equivalent center in content with same post title

Compelling Title!

What do I mean by a compelling title? I title your posts with a title visitors can’t resist. Even if you have to overstate the truth a little bit...do it! Just make visitors want to click the link to your blog post to learn more. Blog post A is titled > “How to Retire Rich” Blog post B is titled > “How to Retire Rich Happy and fabulous” See how these two titles create different pictures in your mind? I would choose to read title b over title a cause title a cause title b sounds like more fun.

A link to money page in your first line

Many people will click a link if they think it will bring them more information on what they are looking for. Make sure the first link on every page is in your first or second line, and highlights the main keyword in your blog title. Here is an example Blog title is.....”How to Visit Jamaica cheaply” Your fist line in your blog post could be something like. >If you want to visit Jamaica cheaply, there are some things you should know to get the best deals possible. (link the words visit Jamaica cheaply) It is important to link your blog is this way for 3 reasons This link highlighting the main keywords in your title, tells search engines that these words are strong/and important. People are likely to click this link because it’s the first link they come across. It is good to cause this link to go to spending page. Clicks are important on a new blog. The more clicks through (into) your blog the more weight the search engines will give your blog the higher page rank you will get in the search engines. So be sure this link clicks to another page on your blog, before it clicks out of your blog.

Type minimum of 1000 words!

Be sure to blog 1000 words minimum for each blog post and blog page. Search engines love blogs with lots of words, and so do your blog visitors. I know this might sound like a lot, but you will get used to it. It takes me about 1- 2 hours to create a good blog post of 1000 words, including photos and links.

Include Inspiring Photos

Let’s face it. People like to feel good. Try to use colorful uplifting happy photos on your blog. This creates a warm inspiring feeling for your blog visitors, and good feelings, equal blog for money dollars in your pocket. It sounds silly, but how else are visitors going to get a visual of what you are blogging about. Choose the most inspiring photos/images you can find to support your blog posts and pages.

Informational and Inspirational Text!

Blog visitors are searching for information that will inspire them and that will teach them something new. Try to include useful information in your blog posts, Big or small. If they were happy with the information they found, next time that same visitor want information on your topic, and guess where they will go? Right back to your blog.

A Call to Action at the end!

If you want to make money blogging, every single one of your blog pages, and blog posts should have a call to action at the end of the blog text that is profitable to you...this could be... Sign up to receive the newest free tips and advice.... (This builds your email list) Check out my new book entitled.... (Promotes yourself written book) An image/photo and description of a product you are promoting (Link it to a buy page)

Includes video equivalent center in the page

Make a video that explains the text already on the page and place it center in the text. Search engines like pages with videos, because it causes visitors to stay on your pages longer, and causes search engines to give your blog a higher rank for that reason. (Do this for every blog page and every blog post; don’t forget to post this video to YouTube to direct traffic to your blog too)
